During the 2008 holiday season, I started thinking about how I can expand my Blog Talk Radio show, "Internet Marketing Today", to provide specific information my listeners can use to build their online businesses.
During 2008, I found a lot of guests for my show by reviewing blogs and websites of people following me in the social networks to see who they were linking to.
My reasoning was this: If they took the time to link to this website, blog or a person, maybe that website, blog or person has something interesting to say.
One such person I found like this is Donna Maria.
Donna Maria's main site is a blog called "Indie Business Blog".
Indie Business Blog is totally dedicated to the small emerging entrepreneur by providing business intelligence, tools and networking opportunities.
In fact, in Donna Maria's personal biography, she says the Indie Business Blog is "where we help you enjoy your life, build your business and have your way.
In addition to being a Mom, a wife and business partner to her husband (Donna Maria's husband is Darryl Johnson), she is an accomplished author and magazine publisher (The Indie Business Magazine) as well as a host of her own Indie Business Radio Show.
In just one conversation with Donna Maria, I felt the warmth, sincerity and conviction that will no doubt serve her well to accomplish her many business and personal goals.
So having met this dynamic North Carolinian entrepreneur by telephone and reading her blog I discovered a gem, a diamond being polished and prepared for the world's wonder and awe. I found it within one of Donna's blog posts.
You see, Donna Maria recognized that many of her indie product producers were not getting the exposure they desparately needed to attract sales, fund product research and expand their product lines.
Getting on the online and television shopping networks of QVC & Home Shopping Network was at the core of their dilemma.
Most small and startup independents cannot financially afford to create more
than several dozen of their product line (if that). QVC requires a vendor to
provide about $10,000 worth of product a wholesale price, while HSN requires
$5,000 worth of product, again, at wholesale cost.
This does not also take into consideration transportation costs, insurance and
a whole host of costs the indie entrepreneur would incur.
This situation gave Donna Maria a brain storm - Build a new home shopping
network that's cost-effective for indie operators and caters to the way people
research and make product purchases through the use of the internet.
Ergo, was born "The Indie Shopping Network"

I have invited Donna Maria and Darryl Johnson to be guests on my show "Internet Marketing Today", to discuss Indie Shopping Network, because I feel this is company that will give QVC & HSN a run for their money in time.
